Gymnastics Class Information
Gymnastics Michiana offers a wide variety of classes to meet the needs of the beginning to the advanced level gymnast of any age. Our Pre-School Program uses a wide variety of creative, colorful equipment designed to attract and stimulate young childrens minds and muscles and helps them become aware of the movements that their bodies are capable of. The rest of our classes follow a logical progression designed to develop a basic skill set from which to continue their gymnastic career.
We limit all of our classes to eight (8) students so each and every child gets lots of attention from the instructor. All classes meet one (1) time per week, although we recommend at least twice per week for your child to make the best progress. Your child can move up through our program by age or by gaining the skills needed to graduate to the next level. Our goal, however, is personal progress. We want every child to feel good about their own accomplishments. Remember: our focus is safety, fun, and development. Check below to see where your child begins.
Toddling Two's - Age 18-28 months (with parent or other responsible adult)
Children who are in their early two's will enjoy tumbling and other motor movements as they experiment with different forms of play both creatively and by imitating others in class.
Two / Three and Me - Age 28-40 months (with parent or other responsible adult)
Young children who enjoy activities of all types will enjoy this class. It is designed to make them more aware of their bodies and its abilities as well as to help them in different types of motor activities. Parents and children attend and work together under expert supervision.
Gym Sprites - Age 3
Children will work on advanced motor movement activities without the parent, but still under expert supervision. Students gain a sense of independence and start to grasp concepts like following directions, waiting their turn, performing drills on their own, and gain self-confidence through milestone accomplishments. The skills learned at this level will give them a great foundation to move onto the more complex gymnastics skills of the four-year-old class.
Gym Tots - Age 4
This class is intended for four-year-olds that have had no experience in gymnastics or tumbling. Balance beam, vaulting, and uneven bars, with a special emphasis on tumbling are presented at this level. This class presents the basic gymnastics skills early to help the child become accustomed to the postitions, terms, and concepts of gymnastics and particularly tumbling. An early start may also help overcome a fear of heights and of turning over.
Introduction to Gymnastics Skills (I.G.S.) - Ages 5 & 6
I.G.S is for 5 & 6 year-olds who have little or no experience in gymnastics. Balance beam, vaulting, and uneven bars, with a special emphasis on tumbling are presented in this class. An early start may also help overcome a fear of heights and of turning over.
Junior Gymnastics - Ages 7-9
This class is for individuals who have had little or no experience in gymnastics and tumbling in this age group, or younger children who are able to execute the skills of the I.G.S. class.
